DESCRIPTION:On Sept. 4-5\, the Maier Museum will hold its 24th Annual Helen Clark Berlind Symposium\, established to expand the educational significance of the Annual Exhibition.  The symposium will begin with a panel discussion on Fri.\, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. with artists Kevin Beasley\, Todd Gray\, and Toyin Odutola. Evie Terrono\, a professor of art history from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland\, will moderate the event. On Sat.\, Sept. 5 at 11 a.m.\, Todd Gray will lead an artist talk. Later that day\, at 1:30 p.m.\, Evie Terrono will present the lecture\, Civil War to Civil Rights:  How African-American Artists Engage the Past\, followed by a reception. All Berlind Symposium events are free and open to the public.
