DESCRIPTION:We're once again partnering with the Virginia 10-Miler Committee to bring you the launch of 10 Miler festivities with this keynote. \n\n\n\nThis year's lunch speaker is Anne Audain\, Virginia 10 Miler current female course record\n\nholder and Olympian and this year's Special Guest for the 45th Genworth Virginia 10 Miler.\n\n\n\nThis special luncheon is open to men and women.  Cost for the luncheon is $25 for Alliance and Lynchburg Road Runners Club members and $35 general admission.  Reservations are required by September 21 so RSVP today by calling (434) 845-5966\, emailing info@lynchburgregion.org or registering online above.  Please remember that Alliance policy requires that reservations be billed unless canceled 48 hours prior to the event.\n\n\n\nMore about the speaker.\n\nAnne Audain has won the Virginia 10 Miler a record six times (1981\, 1984\, 1985\, 1986\, 1987\, 1991) setting the female course record of 53:47 in 1984. A record that still stands today. She has also qualified to compete in six Olympics from 1972 to 1992 and set the world record for 5\,000 meters in 1982.\n\n\n\nA native of New Zealand\, Anne Audain dominated road racing in the 1980's as the winningest road racer\, male or female\, with 75 victories and finishing 90% of her races in the top 3. Her pioneering accomplishments have been recognized around the world with inductions into the Running USA Hall of Champions (2008)\, New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame (2009)\, and Road Runners Club of America Hall of Fame (2014). Queen Elizabeth awarded Anne Audain the Member of the Most Excellent Order (MBE) award for service to athletics (1995). Ann Audain's inspirational story has been shared in the documentary film\, "Anne Audain: Running Her Way" (2009) and in her autobiography "Uncommon Heart" (2000).
