Alliance Welcomes New Director of Government Relations
The Alliance is pleased to announce the hiring of John Putney as Director of Government Relations. John comes to the Alliance with 25 years of legislative and lobbying experience having worked with local, state and national organizations such as Hurt & Proffitt, Harris Corporation (now L3Harris), JMU, McGuire Woods, just to name a few. In this role, John will manage the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance’s public policy work, monitor and provide guidance on issues affecting the Alliance and its members, and represent the organization and its members at the local, state, and federal levels on public policy issues impacting the regional business community.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have someone with John’s background, expertise and passion for our region joining the Alliance team, stated Alliance COO, Christine Kennedy. John will hit the ground running representing our members in Richmond starting January 13.
When asked about coming on board with the Alliance John commented “I am thrilled to be working with the Alliance for a multitude of reasons - particularly because of my commitment to helping our community continue to create opportunity both for our many impressive businesses but also for hard-working citizens.”
Aside from his professional roles, he is active and passionate in serving our region. He currently serves on our GO Virginia Regional Council representing our region and is Chairman of the Town of Bedford’s Economic Development Authority.
John is a graduate of James Madison University and resides in Bedford with his wife Jennifer and his two daughters.
