Gleaning to collect pet foods and supplies at P.A.W.

Concord-based nonprofit Gleaning For The World, in partnership with Pet & Aquatic Warehouse (P.A.W.) in Lynchburg, will be hosting a collection for pet foods and supplies (such as food bowls, leashes, etc.) on Friday, July 12th from 12pm until 6pm.
The Pet Food & Supply Collection will be held at P.A.W., located at 2408 Wards Road in Lynchburg. Representatives from Gleaning For The World will be on site accepting donations of brand new, unopened and unused pet foods and supplies.
The nonprofit, who is known for their disaster relief work, providing nonperishable food, bottles of water,  hygiene items, baby products and more to those who’ve been displaced due to natural disasters also provides pet food, crates, and basic supplies for pets affected by these storms.  They are asking for your help in providing pet foods and supplies for cats, dogs, small animals, reptiles, birds, and fish.
“We love our pets, and our hearts go out to the families and individuals who, in the aftermath of a natural disaster, often need help to providing for their pets as they begin to rebuild their lives,” Gleaning’s president, Jeane Smiley-Mason said. “In times of crisis, many people feel the pressure to surrender or rehome their pets as they are trying to recover. We recognize how much enrichment, comfort, and love people receive from their pets. Pets become family to many people. In times when entire towns are disrupted by a natural disaster and stores are unable to open, our delivery of food and supplies for people, along with food and supplies for pets are a tremendous blessing to those whose lives are turned upside down.”
The collection will be held at Pet & Aquatic Warehouse on Friday, July 12th from noon to 6pm. Patrons can also donate at P.A.W. during the week, Monday through Friday, July 8th through the 12th during the store’s open hours.
Gleaning representatives will also have disaster preparedness and summer safety tips for you and your pet available during the collection at P.A.W. on July 12th for anyone interested as a thank you for your donation.
Dry and canned pet foods, along with other new pet supplies can also be donated on weekdays from 9am to 5pm at Gleaning For The World’s Volunteer Center, located at 7539 Stage Road in Concord, VA 24538.
