Students with Liberty University’s School of Aeronautics are getting a history lesson along with their training this year.

Students and faculty from the program have been working to restore a 1940s L-3 “Grasshopper” plane for the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford.

“This project is a balance between restoration and preservation,” said Bob Howell, chairman of Liberty University’s aviation maintenance technician school. “We are getting it ready for the big D-Day anniversary in June.”
