Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance joins National Initiative to Address Inequality of Opportunity
Yesterday, Tuesday, June 9, the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance announced it is partnering with
the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on a national initiative to address inequality of opportunity.
The Alliance will join the U.S. Chamber’s national townhall event on June 25 where business and
community leaders will discuss concrete actions that can be taken by government and the private sector
to address inequality through education, employment, entrepreneurship, and criminal justice reform.
In a communication to its members, Alliance CEO Megan Lucas shared that “The condition we find
ourselves in as a nation and as a community leave us heartbroken.” And that, the Alliance has already
convened equity and opportunity experts to listen, learn and shape actions that will help all members of

that lead to lasting positive outcomes for our region,” explains Lucas.
“The moral case for greater diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace is indisputable, and there’s
overwhelming evidence that greater diversity benefits the American economy, businesses, communities
and employees,” said U.S. Chamber President Suzanne Clark. “We are proud to partner with the
Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance on this initiative and help develop a robust plan of action.”
The work of this national initiative will build on the work already undertaken by the Alliance to foster
equality in employment, education, entrepreneurship, and overall opportunity in the Lynchburg region.
We will continue to host programs such as RISE: Regional Inclusion Strategies for Employers in
partnership with Genworth, webinars discussing leader’s candid thoughts on community events,
supporting minority-owned small businesses, and creating easier paths for under-represented people to
start and run their own businesses successfully in partnership with the Small Business Development
Center- Lynchburg Region.
