Old Dominion Staff Distribute Chromebooks to Students

The U.S. Department of Labor acquired and distributed Chromebooks and Hotspots so Job Corps students could fully participate in the program’s virtual learning program at home. Students were identified and assigned priority to receive loaner equipment devices based on his/her lack of technology. The loaner equipment is government-issued property to be used exclusively by students so the distribution required Old Dominion Job Corps staff to register serial numbers and receive signed forms from each student.

It was quite an undertaking by the Old Dominion staff. Once staff identified students needing equipment, scheduled appointments and followed all Centers for Disease Control safety and health guidelines, as well as those outlined by ODLE Management—the operator of the Job Corps center. Staff members traveled to Fredericksburg, Norfolk, and Richmond, VA.

The students were very gracious and excited about their new Chromebooks. They all said “Thank you” to Job Corps for making their  distance learning a little easier and that they all want to return back to Old Dominion Job Corps.
