The Small Business Development Center-Lynchburg Region and Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance welcome’s new SBDC mentor, Huong Duyen Ho.

Huong Duyen Ho, who goes by Ying, serves as a mentor to small businesses with the SBDC-Lynchburg Region. She is an entrepreneur and proud registered apprenticeship sponsor partnering with the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry to mentor and teach skills and professionalism in the trades. Her varying experience spans from account support to on-the-job training and helps her to understand the importance of customer relations in a company’s success. Huong Duyen Ho is excited and dedicated to helping her community and entrepreneurs grow.

Huong Duyen Ho recently played an instrumental role in providing relevant communication to the Vietnamese community in the Lynchburg region, through videos explaining information on the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), and local and state resources geared towards economic recovery due to the COVID– 19 pandemic.

“We are excited to be able to offer advising with our local small businesses who may not have been able to receive services due to a language barrier. The SBDC’s mission is to support the local economy – and we do that best by supporting our whole community of small businesses. We know that many of our very smallest businesses missed crucial aid because of these kinds of barriers and we are thrilled to be able to help break through that,” explained Stephanie Keener, executive director of the SBDC-Lynchburg Region.

The videos explain some of the options available to independent contractors and sole proprietors along with other small businesses.
