Writer Kevin Roose to Present on Digital Ownership & NFTS at Create Virginia

LYNCHBURG, VA- On Tuesday, August 3, 2021, from 6-8 p.m. via Zoom webinar, Create Virginia, which is partially supported by the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance, will present a conversation with Writer Kevin Roose on Digital Ownership and NFTs. Featuring The New York Times’ award-winning technology journalist, Kevin Roose, the event will present information concerning transformative technology, such as cryptocurrency and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), a type of digital signature, and their impact on the future of the creative industries.

This is the keynote event for the 5th Annual Create Virginia conference, which focuses on the business acumen of artists and performers. Create Virginia is a partnership of the SBDC – Lynchburg Region, the Academy Center for the Arts, and the City of Lynchburg Office of Economic Development.

Kevin Roose is an award-winning technology columnist for The New York Times and is the best-selling author of three books, FutureproofYoung Money, and The Unlikely Disciple. Roose’s column, The Shift, examines the intersection of tech, business, and culture, as well as the combined effect they have on society, while in his published work Futureproof: 9 Rules for Humans in the Age of Automation, “Kevin Roose lays out a hopeful, pragmatic vision for how humans can survive in the machine age, sharing secrets of people and organizations that have thrived during periods of technological change, and explains how we can protect our own futures.”

As the host of Rabbit Hole, a New York Times-produced narrative audio series, Roose regularly shares about the exponential growth and change of the internet and how that change is affecting society at large. He frequently writes and speaks about topics including automation, A.I., social media, disinformation and cybersecurity, and digital wellness. Before joining The New York Times, Roose was a writer at New York Magazine, as well as a host of an executive producer of “Real Future” a documentary television series about technology and innovations.

The online webinar with Kevin Roose is free to attend, and while geared towards artists and creatives who want to learn more about, cryptocurrency, non-fungible tokens, and digital ownership, it is open to all individuals and organizations.
