Paul Leland Hill
Debuting in the role of Colline
We’re thrilled to introduce Paul Leland Hill as Colline in La Bohème. Originally from Salt Lake City, UT, Paul discovered his passion for music early on. Encouraged by his first-grade teacher’s introduction to opera, he immersed himself in the art form, eventually earning a Bachelor’s in piano performance from the University of Utah and a Master’s in voice performance from the University of Michigan. This will be his debut as Colline—a gentle philosopher among his bohemian friends—and his first time performing this role. |

Paul’s journey into opera was a blend of serendipity and determination. While studying piano, he joined an opera chorus to better understand the business and found himself captivated by the synergy of music, text, and stagecraft. His experience as a Tyler Young Artist with Opera on the James in Tosca laid the foundation for his connection to Lynchburg, and he’s excited to return in La Bohème.
When not on stage, Paul is a devoted film enthusiast, regularly attending the Sundance Film Festival. He also enjoys swimming, hiking, and exploring video games, particularly indie and retro titles. His approach to singing involves keeping hydrated and maintaining a positive attitude toward the costumers and crew, whom he considers the unsung heroes of every performance. |
