Lynchburg Area Women in Technology (LAWIT) Lunch
Guest Speaker: Dr. Mary G. Miller, Director of the Roanoke Blacksburg Accelerator Project (RAMP)
“What makes you think you can learn computer science?” The first time Dr. Miller was asked this question was by a teacher at her son’s school. In 1983, as a 32-year-old mother of two, Dr. Miller had shared her plans to defy gender roles and enrolled at Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering. Miller received her Masters of Information Science, as well as her Doctorate in Instructional Design from Virginia Tech. She was recently inducted into Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering Academy of Excellence and in 2013 she was named the Virginia Tech College of Engineering’s Distinguished Alumna.
