About Dr. Khyati Y. Joshi
Dr. Joshi is a Professor of Education at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Before joining the faculty at Fairleigh Dickinson, she was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race at Columbia University, where for two years she taught Asian American Studies and Comparative Ethnic Studies. She also taught in the American Studies program at Princeton University.
Professor Joshi earned her doctorate in Social Justice Education at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. She received a Masters in Theological Studies from Candler School of Theology at Emory University and a B.A. in Religion from Emory University. She has co-edited several texts that address the intersection of ethnicity, religion, human migration and social justice, and is currently working on a book manuscript, Building a More Perfect Union: Race and Religion in America. She is a frequent presenter at academic and government policy forums, and provides consultation and professional development expertise to educational institutions on topics related to immigrants in schools, race in education, and religion and public schools.
Dr. Joshi was awarded the Fairleigh Dickinson University Distinguished Faculty Award for Research and Scholarship in 2014.
