Lynchburg Community Action Group, Inc., established in 1965, is a non-profit organization that provides a variety of services and programs to the citizens of Central Virginia. Lyn-CAG's primary focus has been to provide direct assistance to low and moderate income individuals and families in the prevention, reduction or elimination of poverty and adverse situations in their lives.
Our programs and services include Head Start, Emergency Assistance/Crisis Intervention. Housing Counseling (Homeless Intervention, Homebuyers Club, Reverse Mortgage, Foreclosure Mitigation), Employment Training (Job Readiness Skills, Automated Computer, Certified Nursing Assistant), Virginia Cares (ex-offender re-entry), Housing Choice Voucher (formerly Section 8), Hand-Up Lodge (homeless shelter), VIDA, Emergency Transportation, FreeTax Preparation (EITC), Childcare, and Home Weatherization and Rehabilitation.
