ABC 13 – WSET is proud to announce that we have helped raise $1.25 million dollars in just two days for children fighting cancer at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
ABC 13 is a proud partner of the Central Virginia St. Jude Dream Home campaign. Multiple partners work together to build a new home that we raffle off, along with other life-changing prizes. Tickets are $100 and this year we sold 12,500 tickets in just over two days.

The 2024 Dream Home was built by Custom Structures in the Blackwater Run community in Lynchburg. The home is three bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, with an open concept living area and two-car garage. The home is valued at $520,000.

Holly Haddox of Lynchburg was announced as the winner of the home during ABC 13’s giveaway show on Wednesday, August 21^st. Haddox is an employee of the Lynchburg City School system and lives in Lynchburg with her husband.

Your Southern Virginia Ford Dealer donated a 2024 Ford Maverick. Jennifer Stewart of Appomattox was announced as that prize winner.

Bank of the James donated a $10,000 Visa gift card. Theodore Lester of Nathalie was announced as the winner of that prize.

The Dream Day Foundation also donated a $10,000 Visa gift card. Kenneth Burdette of Huddleston was the winner of that prize.

This is the sixth year ABC 13 – WSET has partnered with St. Jude in the Dream Home Campaign. ABC 13 has now raised more than $5.4 million dollars. That money goes directly to children and families at St. Jude who are battling cancer or other illnesses. St. Jude never sends a family a bill for treatment, lodging, travel or food.

“This year’s campaign is a testament to the people in this community that we were able to sell out as fast as we did and raise that much money in just a matter of a couple days,” said George Kayes, Vice President and General Manager of ABC 13 – WSET. “Knowing we are supporting the children and their families when they get news like that, that’s what this campaign is all about and why we’re so passionate about this project.”
