ABC 13-WSET Earns Three Virginia Association of Broadcasters Awards for Excellence
LYNCHBURG, Va. — ABC 13-WSET is proud to announce it has been recognized with three prestigious Virginia Association of Broadcasters (VAB) Awards, highlighting the station's commitment to outstanding journalism, community service, and viewer engagement across Central Virginia.
ABC 13-WSET received First Place honors in the following categories:
· Best Television Morning Show – Good Morning Virginia
· Best Station Promotion/Contest – Winter Weather Outlook featuring Chief Meteorologist George Flickinger
· Best in Investigative Reporting – Alexia Stanbridge's investigation into the Nelson County Department of Social Services
In addition to its first-place awards, WSET also earned Second Place awards for:
· Best Commercial
· Outstanding Sports Coverage
· Best Public Service/Community Event Promotion
· Best Human-Interest Series
These honors recognize the dedication and talent of the entire ABC 13-WSET team as they continue delivering impactful local journalism and meaningful content to viewers throughout Lynchburg, Danville, and the surrounding communities.

Good Morning Virginia has won Best Morning Newscast six out of the last seven years, with this win marking four consecutive first place awards. The award for Best in Investigative Reporting recognized Alexia Stanbridge's in-depth reporting on the Nelson County Department of Social Services, exemplifying WSET's ongoing dedication to uncovering issues that matter and holding institutions accountable. The Best Station Promotion award
highlighted the station's commitment to preparing viewers for impactful weather events through George Flickinger's Winter Weather Outlook campaign.
