ABC 13 announces four winners in St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway
AUGUST 25, 2025/LYNCHBURG, VA - ABC 13 – WSET is proud to announce the station has helped raise $1.5 million dollars in just seven days for children fighting cancer at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
ABC 13 is a proud partner of the Central Virginia St. Jude Dream Home campaign. Multiple partners work together to build a new home that we raffle off, along with other life-changing prizes. Tickets are $100 and this year ABC13 sold 15,000 tickets in a single week.
This is the seventh year ABC 13 – WSET has partnered with St. Jude in the Dream Home Campaign. ABC 13 has now raised nearly $7 million dollars. That money goes directly to children and families at St. Jude who are battling cancer or other illnesses. St. Jude never sends a family a bill for treatment, lodging, travel or food.
The 2025 Dream Home was built by LG Flint in the Blackwater Run community in Lynchburg. The home is four bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, with an open concept living area, finished basement, and garage. The home is valued at $580,000.
Debra Hunter of Bedford was announced as the winner of the home during ABC 13’s giveaway show on Wednesday, August 20th. Hunter told ABC 13 she got her ticket the day they went on sale and was getting ready for Bible study when she heard her name.
"I couldn't answer my phone because I was crying so hard, and I finally got to call my daughter, and I told her, and she was just screaming," Hunter said.
Kubota of Lynchburg donated a Sidekick. Nichelle Anderson of Forest was announced as the winner of that prize.
Bank of the James donated a $10,000 Visa gift card. Leslie Mast of Moneta was announced as the winner of that prize.
The Dream Day Foundation also donated a $10,000 Visa gift card. Sophie Taylor of Lynchburg was the winner of that prize.
Green Front Furniture donated a $10,000 shopping spree at their store for touring the St. Jude Dream Home. Debra Martin of Appomattox won that prize.
“Every year we are blown away by the community’s support of this project,” said George Kayes, Vice President and General Manager of ABC 13 – WSET. “ABC 13 is proud to help the children and families at St. Jude, and we could not do it without every single person who reserves a ticket. We are very thankful.”
ABC 13 – WSET could not do this without their partners: St. Jude, LG Flint, Kubota of Lynchburg, Bank of the James, Dream Day Foundation, and many other area businesses who donate their time and products to the home.
