LYNCHBURG, Va. – The City of Lynchburg has partnered with Mason Lane Entertainment to manage, promote and operate the new Riverfront Park Amphitheater, a 5,000-capacity venue that will drive tourism, economic development and community connection through live music and cultural events. This partnership marks a major milestone in the decades-long vision to create a vibrant cultural and entertainment hub in Downtown Lynchburg. 

The amphitheater, currently under construction at Riverfront Park, fulfills goals outlined in the City’s 2000, 2006, and 2040 Downtown and Riverfront Master Plans, advancing Lynchburg’s commitment to arts, culture and community. Once open, the venue will serve as a premier destination for concerts, festivals, movies and community events while maintaining Riverfront Park as a public gathering space accessible to all.

Benda, City Manager. “With Mason Lane Entertainment leading operations, the Riverfront Park Amphitheater will draw new audiences to the city, drive support for local businesses and serve as a gathering place for all who call Lynchburg home.” 

Following a competitive Request for Proposals process issued on June 5, 2025, Mason Lane Entertainment was selected based on demonstrated expertise in live entertainment, event production and community-centered venue management. The firm will oversee all aspects of operations, including programming, marketing, concessions, sponsorships and financial management.

Mason Lane Entertainment’s proposal outlined a robust calendar of events, including a mix of national touring acts, regional performances and community events. The company also emphasized a commitment to local partnerships, working with Lynchburg food vendors, civic organizations and educational institutions to ensure the amphitheater remains a distinctly local experience. Mason Lane Entertainment will open a local Lynchburg office and staff dedicated to amphitheater operations and community engagement.  

Project Background 

The Riverfront Park Amphitheater is part of a multi-phase improvement project to transform Riverfront Park into a versatile, state-of-the-art destination. Enhancements include a new playground (completed in partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Lynchburg), permanent restrooms, a fence and gate system and expanded sidewalks along Jefferson Street and the Riverwalk Trail. 

Construction on the amphitheater began in March 2024 and is expected to be completed ahead of schedule in Winter 2026. Once open, the facility will accommodate 3,500-5,000 attendees and feature modern amenities designed to support performances of all scales.
