YMCA of Central Virginia Celebrates Successful Healthy Kids Day Across All Three Locations

The YMCA of Central Virginia is proud to announce the overwhelming success of this year’s Healthy Kids Day, held on April 20th at all three locations. Healthy Kids Day is part of a nationwide initiative from all YMCAs which aims to improve the health and well-being of kids. YMCA of CVA drew in more than 100 families who enjoyed a day packed with activities designed to encourage active and healthy lifestyles.

A Day of Fun, Fitness, and Community Engagement

This year’s Healthy Kids Day was a vibrant celebration of community and wellness, with each location offering unique, engaging activities:

Jamerson Family YMCA: Our pool party was a splash hit, featuring slides, music, inflatables, and more. Families enjoyed a safe, fun environment with lifeguards and swim tests ensuring everyone had a great time in the water.
YMCA on Old Forest Road: The "BORN TO MOVE" Les Mills classes for kids were a delightful highlight, with sessions specifically tailored for children ages 4-11. These classes focused on enhancing body awareness, balance, and coordination through dynamic, fun-filled activities set to music. Class schedules soon to come!
Downtown YMCA: The outdoor block party, complete with music, face painting, and a variety of games, turned into an extraordinary community gathering. The event featured family fitness activities, a bouncy house, and local vendors, creating lasting memories for all attendees.
Impact and Outreach

The success of Healthy Kids Day represents the YMCA’s commitment to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the nation's health and well-being, and supporting our neighbors through inclusive community initiatives.
