The City of Lynchburg will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of improvements at Jefferson Park! The project includes a new playground, updated basketball courts, new plaza and pavilion and outdoor exercise equipment.

🏀 Basketball Exhibition — Watch an exciting pickup game featuring former and current Dearington residents, organized by Jarrod Thomas of the TIST Academy. Want to play?
🍔 Community Cookout — Local chef T’Juan Booth from Bootleggers will be at the grill serving up hot dogs and burgers.
🎶 DJ & Family Fun — Enjoy music, play on the new accessible playground, and check out the outdoor fitness equipment.
🎨 Community Art — See the new basketball court mural honoring Dearington’s history and future.
Jefferson Park’s transformation is part of the Dearington Neighborhood Plan, a vision built with residents to create a welcoming space for all generations. The new playground, built by Kompan, was designed with neighborhood children’s input and ensures children of all abilities can play side by side.
