About Us
The Jefferson Choral Society (JCS) is Central Virginia's largest and oldest adult community choir. Following twenty-seven years as the Lynchburg Fine Arts Center Chorus, the JCS was chartered in 1990 as a separate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The JCS is composed of 100 members representing six area counties and eighteen different communities. The JCS provides not just classical music for some but great music for all. Showing great versatility, the chorus performs masterworks of choral music plus well known gospel pieces, Broadway show tunes, folk songs, popular music, and music from around the world. The JCS typically performs three major concerts each year - at Christmas time, in the mid-winter, and in the spring - as well as an annual benefit concert at the National D-Day Memorial. The JCS is governed by a Board of Directors and is a Resident Company of the Academy Center of the Arts.
