About Us

The STEM Academy is a half day program for 11th and 12th grade public school students in Region 2000 to prepare them for careers in mechatronics/engineering or biotechnology. The school is housed on the campus of Central Virginia Community College and students have the opportunity to earn up to 44 dual enrolled credits during their time at the STEM Academy. The STEM Academy offers engineering classes which are part of the Project Lead The Way (PLTW) curriculum. PLTW is a nationally recognized curriculum which emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, innovation and real world problem solving. The hand-on learning engages students on multiple levels, and exposes them to areas of study that they might not otherwise pursue.
