Jamerson-Lewis Construction Achieves Virginia BEST Level 2 Recognition
One of Only Five Virginia Companies to Receive Designation
LYNCHBURG, Va. — Jamerson-Lewis Construction has achieved Level 2 Recognition under the Virginia BEST Program (Building Excellence in Safety, Health, and Training), administered by the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry in partnership with the Associated General Contractors of Virginia. Jamerson-Lewis is one of only five Virginia companies to receive this designation, reflecting the firm’s commitment to employee safety, proactive hazard prevention, and strong safety management systems.
The Virginia BEST Program recognizes construction contractors that voluntarily implement comprehensive safety and health management systems designed to reduce workplace injuries, illnesses, and fatalities. Level 2 recognition highlights Jamerson-Lewis Construction’s progress in strengthening its safety programs and actively engaging employees in hazard awareness and prevention across its projects.
Deputy Commissioner Chuck Stiff, CSP, praised the company for its dedication to employee participation and continuous improvement. “By taking the many steps built into Virginia BEST, Jamerson-Lewis Construction is creating a robust system that effectively protects its employees while enhancing productivity and workplace morale,” he wrote.
“Congratulations to Jamerson-Lewis Construction for achieving Level II. This milestone reflects a deep commitment to safety, accountability, and continuous improvement—values that define the very best of Virginia’s construction industry,” said AGCVA CEO Brandon Robinson, CAE, “When companies invest in programs like Virginia BEST, they’re not only protecting their workforce, they’re raising the standard for our entire industry.”
Jamerson-Lewis Construction also recognizes the leadership of Robb Foster, Director of Risk Management and Tyler Miller, Safety & Quality Manager, whose guidance and dedication were instrumental in achieving this milestone and strengthening safety practices across the organization.
“Achieving Virginia BEST Level 2 recognition is an important milestone for our team,” said Kevin Hooper, CEO of Jamerson-Lewis Construction. “Safety is not just a program at Jamerson-Lewis—it’s a core value that guides how we plan, build, and lead every day. This recognition reflects the commitment of our entire team to looking out for one another and making sure everyone goes home safely at the end of the day.”
Jamerson-Lewis Construction continues to strengthen its safety culture while working toward Level 3 recognition, the program’s highest level.
