What can the SBDC-Lynchburg Region do for your small business?

Did you know the Alliance is the host to a national program that advises and trains small businesses and entrepreneurs? The Small Business Development Center – Lynchburg Region’s mission is to promote small business growth, entrepreneurship, and strengthen the economy by providing advising and training to our region’s small businesses. We are a community partner of the United States Small Business Administration. One of 29 SBDC’s across the Commonwealth, the Virginia SBDC is headquartered at George Mason University. The SBDC which serves the Lynchburg Region is designed to deliver up-to-date advising, training, and technical assistance in all aspects of small business management. Topics include:

  • Financial review
  • Marketing
  • Organizational management
  • Startup assistance
  • Customer development
  • Government contracting
  • Access to capital and investment
The SBDC – Lynchburg Region has five Advisors who are subject matter experts. You can meet them at SBDCLynchburgRegion.org

Training ranges from our Start Smart program, which answers the most basic questions for those new to business, to specialized training in specific industries. In the wake of COVID-19, we are working to focus on those industries hit hardest, including Early Childhood Education and Healthcare. In September, we launched a nine-week training program to strengthen the business practices of our regional childcare centers. We are partnering with the Downtown Lynchburg Association in October for special training focused on improving digital marketing and online sales for our retail, restaurant and destination businesses.

Most of our past training, and training from across the Virginia SBDC program can be found on the Virginia SBDC You Tube channel. You’ll find topics there from risk management to an introduction to copyright law.
