Lunchbox Lecture: Fly Girls and Aviation in World War II -
During World War II, women were needed to ferry planes from factories to bases across the United States while also testing new aircraft. The WASP (Women's Air Service Pilot) program graduated 1,074 graduates who transported over 50% of the combat aircraft in the United States. These women flew almost every type of aircraft flown by the USAAF during World War II. Thirty-eight of these exceptional women died in their service. The program will include a slide presentation and discussion and will be held at the Bedford Welcome Center. Free admission though donations are appreciated.
