Ribbon Cutting: Avoca Museum
Join us as we celebrate a Ribbon Cutting for Avoca Museum Restored Milkhouse & Smokehouse Buildings!
Avoca Museum is proud to announce the public opening of the restored Milkhouse and Smokehouse buildings, offering visitors a rare glimpse into the estate’s working past. Guests will be able to step inside these beautifully preserved structures for the first time to experience the newly completed interior restorations and explore new exhibits that bring 19th-century domestic and agricultural life to vivid detail. The Milkhouse now showcases the tools, methods, and craftsmanship once used to preserve dairy products on site, while the Smokehouse exhibit interprets traditional food curing practices essential to early Virginia homesteads. Together, these restorations enrich Avoca’s historic landscape and deepen visitors’ understanding of daily life on the property through generations. Donors to acknowledge: Americana Corner, Altavista Area YMCA Arts Council, Hancock Electric and the Avoca Museum Membership.
