Slow Art Day: Ekphrastic Poetry at the Maier Museum
Slow Art Day is a global event with a simple mission: help more people discover for themselves the joy of looking at and loving art. Slow Art Day participants are invited to come by the Maier Museum anytime between 1 and 5 p.m. to look slowly at five preassigned works of art. At the Maier, we also encourage participants to engage with the art through ekphrastic poetry, which is the creation of original poetry or prose in response to visual art.
Maier participants are also invited to meet at 5:15 p.m. at Mangia (corner of Rivermont Ave. and Norfolk Ave.) for a follow-up discussion. Please RSVP for the discussion session by April 8th at (434) 947-8136 or museum@randolphcollege.edu.
Submit your Slow Art Day or other ekphrastic poetry about works in the Randolph College Collection for possible publication on our Ekphrastic Poetry Webpage by emailing it to museum@randolphcollege.edu.
