Tastings on the Terrace -
On June 1, 2013 Red Hill is holding its bi-annual Tastings on the Terrace event featuring the award winning Red Hill Wine Collection from noon until 5:00pm. The collection includes two whites and two reds; a Traminette and Chardonnay, and our Revolution and Reserve. The Red Hill Reserve was entered into the 2013 Virginia Governor's Cup Wine Competition and was one of eighteen wines to win a gold medal out of 377 entries. We will have the gold medal winning wine available for tasting and purchase. At 3:00 there will be a talk, Cooking with Wine in the 18th & 19th centuries, given under the Osage orange tree by food historian and hearthside cooking expert, Rachel Deddens of Lynchburg. Rachel Deddens is a food historian and has twenty years of experience with hearthside cooking. In the Museum Shop, we have Dedden's autographed book Cooking at the Hearth for sale! The tastings event is $6 which includes your admission to Red Hill. Souvenir glasses will be available for purchase for $3. On Wednesday, May 29th we will be celebrating Patrick Henry's 277th birthday at Red Hill. A birthday cake donated by Kate Vincent, owner of The Gypsy Baker in Brookneal and will be available for every visitor to enjoy. At 10:00am there will be a Wreath Laying Ceremony with the presentation and placement of colors by the 276th Engineer Battalion (First Virginia Regiment), Virginia Army National Guard. Please join us to celebrate the birthday of the ''Voice of the Revolution.''
