United Way Day of Caring
It's that time of year again! We hope that you have lots of projects that need to be done for this year's Week of Caring.
Yep, that's right! Our revamped Day of Caring, which is a great day for the business and non-profit community to come together and make our community a better place, is being revamped to happen for the entire week of September 14-18, 2020. We are choosing to space out the needs through the whole week so that we may social distance, keep our volunteers and agency clients and staff safe, and be able to create the most impact in our community during a time when we need helping hands and people coming together more than ever.
Registration for agency needs is officially open. (Volunteer registration will open August 12). We will be using the GetConnected platform again for registration. This is a great tool to allow both the agencies and volunteers to sign up in one place. It is pretty user-friendly, but can get a little confusing. If you are familiar with the platform, you can go ahead and start adding needs to the 2020 Day of Caring Event. If not, you can either view this quick tutorial video or if you need more details, you can download step-by-step instructions of how to add needs to our site!
Needs can be anything from painting and landscaping, to office work and everything in-between! Please make sure the title and description of your needs is very detailed, as this is what volunteers see when signing up for your needs.
Please note that this year, you will have a supplemental question that states which of the five dates your agency would be available to have the need fulfilled. You may choose all and then the volunteer can have the date that fits their schedule best.
We hope that you will be able to coordinate with the volunteers on a day that works best for you and them, as well as keeping the amount of people low at your organization. For instance, if you have multiple needs, we encourage you to spread those out among several days and volunteers. This may get confusing, but the United Way staff is here to help you. Please contact Dawn Wise, Director of Community Engagement, if you need immediate assistance. dawn.wise@unitedwaycv.org.
Please note: In lieu of t-shirts this year, we will be providing branded PPE for your group. We will also be providing additional PPE if you need it for your volunteers. We will coordinate with you at a later date for this.
We also, due to health concerns, will not be providing lunch at the Hillcats, nor will we be providing boxed lunches.
