Gleaning to host National Day of Prayer Ceremony May 2

Thursday, May 2nd is the National Day of Prayer. Concord-based nonprofit, Gleaning For the World will be hosting a public National Day of Prayer ceremony, which will be held inside of their large Volunteer Center, located at 7539 Stage Road in Concord.

There are seven themes, or topics, with which the National Day of Prayer calls for. These themes include praying for our government, our military, the media, businesses, churches, families, and education. Pastors and leaders from the central Virginia area will publicly pray for each of these themes.

Live music will be performed by Appomattox-based singer McKinley Cardwell and the keynote speaker for this event will be Virginia Delegate Wendell Walker.

The National Day of Prayer ceremony will be held from 9am until 11 am at Gleaning For The World, located at 7539 Stage Road in Concord. Doors open at 8:30. Light refreshments and coffee will be served.

All are welcome to attend.

“We’re thrilled to invite the community once again to recognize this important national holiday,” Gleaning’s president, Jeane Smiley-Mason said. “Community prayer is so important. Joining together with like-minded friends and neighbors - praying for the best for our country, our community, and our households is a joy to experience and participate in. We had a great crowd last year and we are looking forward to seeing the community at our Volunteer Center once again.”

Additionally, Gleaning For The World’s Bible collection is beginning on Wednesday, May 1. Anyone who would like to donate a new or used Bible, as well as Christian literature, can do so before or after the National Day of Prayer ceremony on May 2, or any weekday between 9am and 5pm. This collection will be ongoing.
